2014 TD Spreadsheet Templates - Secondary Schools

posted 18 Dec 2013, 14:08 by Greg Basford   [ updated 18 Dec 2013, 14:08 ]
This is an update for secondary schools regarding setting up Teacher Dashboard for 2014.

Dear Colleagues,

As Google likes to say, "Move fast and break things" ...

You may be aware that Google has recently introduced some updates to Google Spreadsheets.

A key benefit of these updates is they speed up the process of getting your timetable data into the format required for TD.

However, while these updates are beneficial, they have also temporarily broken some features we use in the TD spreadsheets for Secondary Schools. We had planned to use these new Spreadsheet templates for 2014 and to make these available to you this week, but that now seems unlikely.

So, you have the choice. Either,

1. Wait until Google fixes the relevant issues* and use the new templates we provide for you. This may suit those of you who have opted to setup TD in Term 1 Week 2 or later.

Or,

2. Stay with the old version of Google Spreadsheets. We'll prepare a 2014 version for you before Jan 13 and put it in your existing TD Spreadsheets folder. This may suit those of you wanting to set up TD during the holidays. If you want this option please contact me this week.

Either way, we'll be ready to begin rolling over TD on Jan 13 as planned. As always, we'll keep you informed as news comes to hand. For those schools using Sentral we're continuing to make progress and will have further news in the new year.

Have a very Merry Christmas and a safe and happy new year.

Cheers,

Greg & Matt.

* Google are saying they will fix "over the coming months", so it's possible they will be fixed by early February, but that may be optimistic.
